Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomena: a superstar who managed to completely cross over from the country music scene to making her an iconic celebrity and then conquering the globe in the process. Swift shed country like it was a second layer and proved that she's possibly the smartest pop-singer/songwriter her generation. A person who has the ability to tap into the mood of times to make her music personal, and sing in the other direction. Her early songs like the Neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament of her ability. However, her second album Fearless of 2008 proved to be a songwriter finding her voice as well as a broader public. Fearless was a huge success worldwide, not only in North America (where it earned six times platinum for the Top Ten Hits Love Story as well as "You Belong with Me") but in Canada, Australia as well as the U.K. and many other countries. Swift's next album Speak Now, released almost two years after the previous one, built on this momentum. The album propelled Swift to superstardom. Over the next three years, Swift's popularity was growing through the years -- Red (2012), Reputation (2014) in addition to 1989 (2014-2015) -- as she entered a new arena of pop where her talents were already well established. Her name was always on top of the charts until she reverted to her style with her sibling albums Folklore and Evermore in 2020.
