April Ross
April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball athletes who earned medals at multiple Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross in Tokyo in order to claim her third gold in the next few days. Ross is hoping to secure her Olympic first gold medal but she is also aiming to earn even more. With her age of 39, this may be Ross' last chance to win the Olympic gold. She's certain that the top prizes can be achieved. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and if we just play well I'm sure we'll be able to win gold." "I'm planning to test a little luck." Ross was born on the 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. At Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous activities. As a pre-schooler she was a participant in basketball, indoor volleyball and track. She was definitely a cut above the rest in this latter game. During her high school career she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court as per her bio at the college. To honor her achievements she was awarded the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. The year 2000 was the time she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play since 2017. But, Ross was a major player on the beach volleyball circuit before the pairing. She actually won several major championships while playing with two different partners, among them a volleyball icon. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships in 2009. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group that could take home the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They went on to earn bronze in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in 2016. In high school and the years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross balled out for the USC Trojans as an NCAA. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. In her first year at the school, 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of the award and become an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans get to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she experienced a devastating personal setback but managed to repeat as an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans up to the summit and won consecutive national titles. In 2003-04, Ross was named as the most successful female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the United States according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross majored in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross achieve beach volleyball's top levels. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish her late parent. And Margie remains a source of encouragement for her on the beaches and throughout life.
