April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player from the United States, is among a select group of women who have had medals won in several Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross in Tokyo to win her third gold in the coming days. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture her very first Olympic gold. Since she's 39 years old she could have her last shot. But she's still confident of achieving top honours. Ross told NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, or play a great game her team could win a gold medal. "I'm also going to try to have a bit of luck." Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and her sister were residents there. She was able to participate in many sports at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. While she did well in indoor volleyball, it was clear that her skills were above the average. In her own biography her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a the setter (outside blocker). Her achievements were rewarded by her being named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions players of the year. In 2000, she received an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman began the partnership in 2017, However, Ross has been a beach celebrity for a long time prior to. She has won major tournaments twice with different partners. One of them has become an icon of the world of volleyball. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was a force on the international stage, claiming an international title in 2009. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor as she left the team. Together, they took home beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to her pro career. She played in high school and in years prior to hitting the beach professionally. Ross had an impressive run through the NCAA tournament. As a freshmen in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 as well as NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans had the chance to get to the Final Four with her help. She was devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore year. However, she went on to be an All-American again. In her last two seasons as a member of the Trojans' program, she led them to success by winning two the national title in consecutive years. In 2003-04, Ross was named the top female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the United States by the Honda Sports Award. Ross was an USC international relations major, was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross was not able to witness Ross achieve beach volleyball's top level.
