Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Paquin is a native of Canada and New Zealand actress. She was born in Winnipeg however, she was raised in Wellington She had her first appearance as an actor on screen in The Piano. In this romantic drama film at eleven years of age, Paquin won her second Oscar for Best Actress. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won her the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the empathetic and curious girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the award. After she responded to an audition call, she won the role in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a mute Scottish pianist who relocates from Scotland to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to be married. It was her first role at the age of nine and had no previous experience as an actor. When she was a teenager her family left Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin started her acting career as a child with a role of the Jane Eyre main character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre, and then a major part of Fly Away Home. Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the television version of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin played the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 movie Amistad. She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). Also, she was the character of the teenage groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
